I love this dress. The fit is perfect for everyday wear, riding bikes, hanging with chickies in the backyard, whatevs. 🙂
This wonderful pattern from Deer and Doe in France was designed for a C cup and normal shoulder width so I had lot of fitting work to do here. I made three bodice muslins and ended up taking in a big wedge out of the neckline, raising the neckline, modifying the front darts considerably, and letting out the side seams a bit. These muslins are a bit wrinkled after being stuffed in a drawer but you get the idea.
First muslin cut from the smallest size (34) with sad deflated boobie area:
Here’s the final muslin with a sleeve, slimmed a bit for my twig arms, also known around here as “ma noodles”. I had to take a bit more fabric out from the neckline on the actual dress:
Here you can see the changes I made to the front bodice dart for my less curvy figure. I let the dart out to add width to the waist and mellow out the shaping on the bust. I straightened out the bottom of the dart to reduce bagginess under the bust.
This cute japanese cotton came from A Verb for Keeping Warm in the East Bay.
I finished all of the hems with seam binding.
Yay! It fits!
